Palestine Technical College Ramallah


Under the Patronage of His Excellency Dr. Munther Salah, Minster of Higher Education, Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh the Managing Director of PECDAR inaugurated on February 25,2001 Palestine Technical College for girls in Ramallah.

In his speech delivered at the inauguration ceremony Dr. Salah referred to the continuous support of the Palestinian National Authority to the Educational Sector in Palestine and stated that His Excellency President Yasser Araft issued his instructions to establish a new University in Gaza under the name of Al Aqsa University.

He also paid tribute to the Staff and Management of PECDAR for their continuous support to the Educational Sector in Palestine.

Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh stated that Palestine Technical College for girls in Ramallah, was implemented by PECDAR on the Development of the Educational Services Program in Palestine (DESPP) with the financial support of the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development, based in Kuwait at a value of US $605 thousand.

Dr. Hisham Shkoukani stated that the college implementation works took two years and comprised the construction of two stores and a sports hall of 1280 square meters.

Engineer Yassin Abu Al Sa’oud explained that the ground floor contains computer laboratory, electronic laboratory, teaching hall, exchange room, a store, two bathrooms units, one for the handicapped students and the other for girls and a corridor connecting between the old building and the new one of 469 square meters.

He added that the first floor contains three classrooms and education hall, house keeping hall, two teachers’ rooms, two bathroom units and a staircase of 469 square meters, in addition to the sports hall of 350 square meters.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Najwa Arafat, Dean of the College, Dr. Hisham Shkoukani, PMO Director of PECDAR and Engineer Nabil Fanous, Representative of First Option the project’s Consultant.

As well as the ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdullah Afaneh, Director of Colleges at the Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Mahmoud Salah, Academic Deputy of the College and Engineer Yasin Abu Al Sa’oud, Coordinator of the Development of Educational and Health Services Program in Palestine
